If you haven't guessed by now, I play the trumpet for a living. I have been playing professionally since I was 17 years old and have spent the last 21 years serving my country by performing as a member of the United States Air Force Bands and Music program. Along the way, I've continued performing in the public as a member of numerous ensembles performing many different styles of music. When I lead a group it's usually a jazz ensemble of one sort or another. In this picture, I'm playing a flüglehorn solo on the Bill Holman arrangement of "Stompin' At The Savoy". As you can see by the different uniforms, it is not a U.S. Air Force ensemble. In fact, it's The NATO Jazz Orchestra, the primary performing ensemble of the SHAPE International Band and an ensemble I was privileged to lead until recently. Looking on directly to my right is vanemveebel Ivar Kiiv, a trombone player in the Estonian Army Band.
Please page through the site and do come back from time to time. This is in its infancy but, I'll be updating often as I dig up audio and video files to post as well as improvisation materials I've created for myself and students.
